Acoustic specifications for school building are simplified in the BB93 factsheet guide downloadable free of charge from the web site of aircrete manufacturer H+H UK, which is currently supplying for the £2.6m extension to Sawston Village College in Cambridgeshire seen in the photo.
The guide provides illustrated quick-reference construction solutions to meet all the performance criteria required by Part E of The Building regulations, as recommended in standards set out by Building Bulletin 93.
The separating wall specifications include both plaster and plasterboard solutions for constructions using traditional or thin layer mortar, validated independently by the Acoustic Investigation & Research Organisation LTD (AIRO).
