H+H UK LTD in Sunday Times Top Ten Best Green Companies

H+H UK jumped 20 places in this year’s Sunday Times Best Green Companies and into the top ten for the first time as the highest placed building materials manufacturer in the prestigious list. The UK’s leading aircrete company worked especially hard to lower its carbon footprint over the last 12 months, achieving a 6% reduction in the process, double the set target.

H+H UK Chief Scientist Colin Cook commented: “In last year’s list we appeared at number 29, so to enter the top ten we are of course delighted. We focused primarily on the three Rs: reduce, reuse, recycle; whilst also making significant reductions in gas, electricity and water use, demonstrating our continuing commitment to reducing environmental impact despite tough market conditions.”

H+H UK also reduced aircrete block waste significantly, in fact again comfortably beating internal targets with the company now investigating ideas such as using block waste on green roofs rather than sending it to landfill.

Said MD Mark Oliver: “Our rise into the top ten reaffirms we made the correct decision as a company to look at ‘greening’ every aspect of not only our own company but also our supply chain. We now make sure all materials used in our product manufacture are responsibly sourced and we achieved a “very good” in the BES 6001:2008 Standard for the Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products last October as part of this strategy.”
