Summary of the Project
Main Contractors Bowmer and Kirkland appointed ECL Contracts to work with them at The Avon Cosmetics site in Northampton. This development comprises two adjacent parcels of land, Nunn Mills, a former power station site and the original Avon Cosmetics distribution and office buildings.
The overall objective was to regenerate a run down, tired part of Northampton and deliver a new mixed use urban village involving the development of over 1,000 houses and apartments together with the new headquarters building for Avon Cosmetics and other commercial and social facilities.
Building the new European headquarters for Avon Cosmetic marks the 50th anniversary of the company in Northampton next to the River Nene. It comprises of a horse shoe shaped five-storey building. ECL was responsible for the LSF & insulation to all floors and elevations which was then clad with brickwork (by others) supported on our brick channels and ties, terracotta tiles to main staircase towers and insulated render.
ECL installed lightweight steel framing, external wall insulation and terracotta rainscreen cladding.
